Mark Moffatt Appointed Director of Vehicle Services

The Board of Supervisors appointed Mark
Moffatt as the director of the Department of Vehicle
Services (DVS) today. He will assume his new position on Jan. 14.
DVS provides fleet management and maintenance services to county and Fairfax County Public Schools vehicle fleets.
Moffatt recently retired, completing a 28 year career in the United States Army finishing as the deputy garrison commander at Fort Belvoir. Throughout his career Moffatt has lead and trained maintenance teams for the U.S. Army and held numerous high ranking positions, such as company commander, battalion commander and division chief. Most recently, Moffatt was responsible for leading the construction efforts for renovating Fort Belvoir.
Moffatt was awarded the Legion of Merit in the U.S. Army and the Bronze Star Medal for his service in Iraq. Moffatt was also awarded a signed Virginia resolution from Board of Supervisors Chairman, Sharon Bulova in June 2012.
Moffatt has a master’s degree in Business Administration from Bowie State University in Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army War College.
Moffatt will receive an annual salary of $135,000.
