Register to Vote and Check Your Status on Northern Virginia Voter Registration Day, Oct. 1

Northern Virginia residents can register to vote or check the status of their voter registration during the Northern Virginia Voter Registration Day, Tuesday, Oct. 1. The jurisdictions listed below are hosting voter registration events in multiple locations. Contact your local jurisdiction with questions regarding voter registration and elections.

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 5 Virginia General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 15.  You must update your voter registration before the deadline if you have changed your address or name, or you may not be able to vote.

Fairfax County Library events take place 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.; other events as noted below.

Alexandria City: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Loudoun County: Noon to 7 p.m.

Rappahannock County: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Quickie Mart ­– 12663 Lee Highway, Washington

Frederick County: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Prince William County:  6:30 to 8:30 a.m.

VRE Stations at:

City of Falls Church 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

 Fairfax County residents who cannot attend a Voter Registration Day event have several options to register to vote or check/update voter registration status:

  • Online– Register to vote or check your voter registration status online.
  • In Person – Fairfax County Office of Elections at Government Center, Suite 323, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035.
    • Weekday Schedule (Office closed Oct. 14 for Columbus Day):
      Sept. 20 to Oct. 15: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Note: deadline to register is Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. 
    • Saturday Schedule: Sept. 28 to Oct. 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Call – Call the Office of Elections at 703-222-0776 (TTY 711) during the hours noted above. You can have a voter registration form mailed to you, make changes on your registration or check your status.
  • Pick Up A Form – Voter registration forms are available at your local library or Board of Supervisors office. Mail the completed and signed application to: Fairfax County Office of Elections, P.O. Box 10161, Fairfax, VA 22038-8061.

The Nov. 5 General Election will include elections for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, House of Delegates and the Fairfax County sheriff, as well as a School Bond Referendum.
