Join the 2014 Spring Culmore Cleanup on April 26
April 21, 2014
For more than a decade, Culmore area volunteers, including from local businesses, places of worship and nonprofit organizations, have participated in the annual Culmore Cleanup, ridding the streets of litter while raising awareness about keeping the community clean. The 2014 Spring Culmore Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to noon. The 2014 cleanup is sponsored by the Bailey’s Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences PTA.
Participants should check in at 9 a.m. at the Bailey’s Elementary School cafeteria, 6111 Knollwood Drive, Falls Church, to receive trash bags, a T-shirt and gloves. Coffee and light refreshments will be offered. Volunteers are asked to pre-register teams of participants on the Culmore Cleanup Day Facebook page.
Volunteers will clean up trash and other debris from Route 7 and Patrick Henry Drive to Beachway Drive/Blair Road to Columbia Pike. From Columbia Pike the crews will continue to Route 7 and back to Patrick Henry Drive. All streets between these points will be included in the cleanup.
Lunch is provided at Bailey’s Elementary School following the cleanup. Included are dessert from the City Diner, water and orange juice from Coca-Cola and other refreshments. The school also will host a wildlife presentation by staff from the Hidden Oaks Nature Center and information from the Coca-Cola Company, Fairfax County Health Department Division of Environmental Health and Bailey’s Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department.
