At the Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Fairfax County Employees Advisory Council (EAC) presented the 2013 Don Smith EAC Award and two honorable mentions to county employees. The award recognizes employees who have contributed in an outstanding manner to the well-being of fellow employees.

2013 Don Smith Award:

  • Charles Keener and Jennifer McCullough of the Library were selected for their grassroots effort to support Library employees over the past few months.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Sharron Cayere, Fire and Rescue Department, spent volunteer hours helping fellow employees prepare and train for Work Performance Exams.
  • Joseph Wilhelm, Facilities Management Division, volunteers as a mediator in the county’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program and also brings employees together outside the workplace in activities such as softball.

The Don Smith EAC Award was established by the Employees Advisory Council in 1991 to honor Donald D. Smith, a longtime county employee who served on the EAC for 17 years. He retired in 1990.
