New County Online Job Application System Begins March 3

On Monday, March 3, Fairfax County will begin using a new online job application system. The new system, which will be available through the county’s jobs site is tailored for local and state governments and used by over 1,200 public sector organizations. It is connected with the nationally recognized website, governmentjobs.com.

New features will be available that are not part of the current job application system. Job seekers will be able to:

  • Easily access their account from a smartphone or tablet device.
  • Attach supplemental documents to applications, such as letters of recommendation.
  • Import a résumé from an existing LinkedIn account.
  • Create a job alert to receive notifications about new opportunities in their field of interest.

Accounts can be created at GovernmentJobs.com before March 3 in preparation to apply for Fairfax County jobs. Registration is free and simple.

Existing résumés will not be imported. To use a current résumé from Fairfax County’s AIMS system, it will need to be saved it in a word processing format, such as Microsoft Word, as usernames and résumés will not be migrated into the new system. Learn more about how to save your résumé for future use.

If you have already applied for a county job, this change will not impact your application.

For more information call the county’s HR Central, 703-324-3311.
