Fairfax County Alban and West Ox Maintenance Facilities Recognized by the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence Program
Nov. 30, 2016
Two Fairfax County Vehicle Maintenance Facilities, Alban and West Ox, have earned Blue Seal of Excellence Recognition as prescribed by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of vehicle repair and service by means of voluntary testing and certification for automotive repair and service professionals.
To be eligible for this recognition, a company must have 75% of its automotive professionals ASE certified. In addition, there must be a certified technician in each area of service offered. To remain in the program, a business must renew each year and confirm their professionals’ certification status.
The Department of Vehicle Services (DVS) provides management and maintenance services to the County’s vehicle fleet and maintenance support to the Fairfax County Public Schools. At the end of FY 2016, there was a combined County and School fleet of 6,318 units, of which 5,926 are maintained by DVS. The Alban Maintenance Facility has 22 employees and West Ox has 79 employees. These employees provide timely, responsive and efficient vehicle repairs and services for a broad range of equipment from small engines to large and complex fire apparatus.
“Businesses that have earned the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence Recognition have gone the extra mile in support of their customers. Employing ASE-certified professionals is an important element in their overall customer satisfaction program. We salute those businesses who achieve this goal and thank them for helping promote quality automotive repair and service,” says Timothy Zilke, ASE President.
“Staff at Alban and West Ox are to be commended for receiving the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence. This prestigious recognition is a tribute to their dedication to the automotive field and experience in their trade,” said Mr. Mark Moffatt, Director, DVS.
ASE was founded in 1972 as a non-profit, independent organization dedicated to improving the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians. Technicians, engine machinists, and parts specialists have participated in ASE’s program from all segments of the service and repair industry: car and truck dealerships, service stations, independent repair shops, collision repair facilities, maintenance garages, leasing and rental businesses, fleet repair facilities, franchised outlets, etc. Today, more than 350,000 professionals are ASE certified.
