Saturday, March 26: A Little Off the Top

Learn how and when to prune and the proper tools to use, at a pruning demonstration with horticulturist Laurie Short. Demonstration will include removal of dead, damaged and diseased wood. 10 to 11 a.m. Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. $5.  Registration required.  Call 703-255-3631.

Invasive Management Area Workday: Work with other volunteers to help reduce invasive plants in our parklands, through the Invasive Management Area Volunteer Program. Connect with people while taking care of the natural resources around us.  Wear sturdy shoes, gloves, long pants and long sleeves and bring water. "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" with Special Guest Tom Teasley: Percussionist Tom Teasley performs live accompaniment to a screening of the film "The Adventures of Prince Achmed." This story is taken from "Arabian Nights" and features the amazing hand-cut silhouettes of Lotte Reiniger.Teasley will recount his recent trips to the Middle East and discuss the creative process following the film. 7:30 p.m. Workhouse Arts Center. Tickets are $15 ($10/members.) Recycle televisions, computers and peripheral devices – including keyboards, speakers, printers, external drives and other such materials – and unbroken fluorescent light bulbs and tubes on Electric Sundays.
