 Friday, March 29: Nature Notes

Wild Things Puppet Show: Children ages 4-10 can enjoy three puppet shows and hear the Native American legend of how butterflies came to be. A naturalist will show live animals highlighted in the stories. From 10 to 11 a.m. at Hidden Oaks Nature Center. $5/person. Register online. For information call 703-941-1065.

Nature’s April Foolers Campfire: Join a Hidden Oaks naturalist to learn how animals use trickery to get a meal or to keep from being a meal. Meet live animals, hear stories and toast marshmallows.  Saturday, March 30: Egg-cellent Events

Easter Egg Hunt at GW RECenter: Eggs-plore the field behind the George Washington RECenter. There will be 2,000 candy-filled eggs hidden around the field. Groups will be ages 3 and under, ages 4-6 and ages 7 and over. Bring a basket for collecting eggs. From 10 to 11 a.m. at George Washington RECenter. $3/child. No pre-registration is required. Easter Egg Hunt at Nottoway Park: Visit with the Easter bunny and hunt for candy, toys and eggs filled with treats. Start times are: 10:30 a.m. (ages 1 and 2); 11 a.m. (ages 3 and 4); 11:30 a.m. (ages 5 and 6); and noon (ages 7 through 9) at Nottoway Park. Bring your own basket. Walk-in registration starts 9:30 a.m. (cash only). A weather decision will be made at 8:30 a.m. $8/person. For information and weather cancellation, call 703-324-8566.

Spring Fest: This special event for ages 3-8 includes self-guided arts and crafts projects, entertainment and the opportunity for children to have a professional photo taken with Bunny. Remember to bring your Easter basket for the parent/child Easter egg hunt. Please register early! Space is limited. From 10 a.m. until noon at McLean Community Center. $5/person; free for children up to 36 months. Registration is required for all participants; walk-ins will not be accepted. Register online. Cinderella – The True Story: Live onstage! Mestey Films Productions presents “Cinderella: The True Story.” Enjoy an afternoon of laughter and mystery with playwright Vianlix Mestey’s adaptation of the fairy tale. Cinderella’s sneaky stepsisters and evil stepmother do all they can to stop the prince from finding Cinderella! Two shows: from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the W3 Theatre at the Workhouse Arts Center. $12/adults and $8/youth (12 and under). Group rates available, please inquire. Buy tickets online.  Sunday, March 31: Funny Bunnies

Rabbits: Fact & Fable: Meet a rabbit and learn how the tradition of the Easter Bunny began. Also learn about cottontails native to Fairfax County and how to tell if a deer or rabbit has visited your garden. This program is suited for children ages 3-10. From 2 to 3 p.m. at Hidden Oaks Nature Center. $5/child. Register online. For information call 703-941-1065.
