Basic Gardening: Easy Makeover Tips: Tired of your current landscape or lack of one? This “do-over” class will help you determine your needs so you can create a garden that matches your style.  Saturday, April 27: Celebrate Earth Day

SpringFest 2013: Clean Fairfax, in partnership with Fairfax County, Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, Fairfax County Park Foundation, Fairfax County Park Authority and the Workhouse Arts Center present SpringFest 2013, a celebration of Earth Day, Arbor Day and a Cleaner, Greener Fairfax! Enjoy pony rides, a petting zoo, Reptiles Alive, a farmers market, games, music, crafts, environmental workshops, art demonstrations and much more! Kayak and bike rentals as well as family fishing at Occoquan Regional Park. Free shuttle service between sites all day. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Workhouse Arts Center. Nature Buddies: Children ages 3 to 5 with an accompanying adult take a walk to the wetland to look at examples of seasonal happenings. Following the walk, there will be activities and a craft. Be Fit: McLean Outdoor Expo: Back and better than ever, the Be Fit McLean Outdoor Expo is in its third year and promises to be the best one yet! Come to the Old Firehouse in downtown McLean to try out the latest trends in the outdoor industry and get geared up for spring at the gear swap. Live mountain music and a 30-foot rock wall. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Old Firehouse, 1440 Chain Bridge Rd, McLean. $5/person; kids 12 and under free. Food available for purchase on-site or visit a local restaurant within walking distance. Trout Fishing in America – The Show: Trout Fishing's infectious mix of folk/pop and family music is enriched by the diverse influences of reggae, Latin, blues, jazz and classical music. Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet have been playing music together since the 1970s when they met up in Texas. Now, 15 albums and four Grammy nominations later, they still get up every day looking forward to playing music together. From 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the CenterStage, Reston Community Center. $30/person. Cool Cow Comedy Presents Big Al: Live stand-up comedy featuring Big Al Goodwin, hosted by Rahmein Mostafavi of Cool Cow Comedy. Big Al connects with his audiences – getting them to appreciate the lighter side of their own lives by relating his observations and experiences. A winner on America's Funniest People, he has been interviewed on “The Billy Bush Show” and was a finalist in HBO's Lucky 21 Contest, representing the East Coast in the Las Vegas Comedy Competition.  Sunday, April 28: Sights and Sounds of Spring

Flowers in Fashion: Flowers draw bees, birds and fashion designers! Hear the history of personal adornment with flowers and interconnections between botany, garden aesthetics and clothing design. View fabulous floral motifs in fashion to see how their shapes and meanings have inspired designers through the ages. Participants must be at least age 13. Sunday Soirée Series Dance: As inexpensive and enjoyable dates go, they don’t get any better than this.
