McLean-based dance troupe
Hui O Ka Pua `Ilima (The Group of the
Ilima Flower) will bring the spirit of aloha and Polynesia
when they perform as part of the Summer
Entertainment Series. Hui O Ka Pua `Ilima perpetuates
the history and unique culture of the Hawaiian islands and
their Polynesian neighbors in song and dance. 7:30 p.m. Grist

Saturday, July 9: V for
Victory!
Travel back in time at the
World War II Living History event. Allied and
Axis reenactors will be on hand for a weekend of
demonstrations and memories. Get an up-close look at what
life was like for soldiers and civilians and talk to them
about their jobs, living quarters, food and life in the
1940s.10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sully Historic Site. (Also on Sunday,
July 10.) A house tour is included in the fee of $8/adult and
$6/senior and child. Active duty military personnel and

Ice Cream Social: Support the Workhouse
Ceramics Program at the 3rd Annual Ice Cream Social. Bring
the family, set up a picnic on the Workhouse Arts Center Quad
and enjoy a fun-filled, entertaining afternoon. Local
band Backyard Blues will also be on hand to dish out their
soulful classic rock and blues. Noon to 4 p.m. Workhouse Arts
Center. $15 admission includes a handmade ceramic bowl
created by a student, instructor or resident artist. Tickets

Hidden Pond 101 - Butterflies and Insects:
Butterfly species will be the main focus, but a look at other
species that live around Hidden
Pond will also be covered as participants search for

July 10: A Bird's Eye View
Learn about the birds in Huntley
Meadows and some basic identification skills at
Birding for Beginners. The program begins with an
indoor discussion. Participants must be at least 12 years
old. Children ages 12 to 16 must be accompanied by a
registered adult. 8 to 11 a.m. Huntley Meadows Park.
