 Friday, July 26: Wild and Wonderful 

Wild Animals Puppet Show: Learn about wildlife and the environment through puppet plays. Meet the puppets and live animals, as well as enjoy interactive group activities. From 2 to 3 p.m. at Hidden Oaks Nature Center. Ages 3 to 7. $5/person. Register online. For information call 703-941-1065.

Blues, Bluegrass or Pop – Your Choice: Choose from four concerts including: The NOVA Annandale Symphony Orchestra (pop) at Lake Accotink Park; Tom Principato (blues) at Royal Lake Park; Andrew Acosta String Band (bluegrass) at Grist Mill Park; and Mary Ann Redmond (pop/rock) at Mason District Park. Bring a picnic, blankets and/or lawn chairs; flashlights also recommended as some parks are not lighted. Concerts are 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Free.  Saturday, July 27: Family Fun

Arts in the Parks: Bring the family for fun entertainment from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mason District Park for the grandsons, Jr. (songs); Burke Lake Park Amphitheater for Blue Sky Puppet Theater (puppets); E.C. Lawrence Park Amphitheater for The GoodLife Theater (puppets); and Lake Fairfax Park Amphitheater for The Great Zucchini (comedy/magic). Free, no registration required. More information (PDF).

Peter Pan and Captain Hook in the Fairies’ Land: Come for an afternoon of laughter and mystery with playwright Vianlix Mestey’s adaptation of the famous fairy tale. The magic clock of Neverland is winding down and is about to stop. If that happens, Neverland will disappear, so Peter Pan and Captain Hook have to work together to get the clock key from the queen fairy. Find out if they succeed. From 1 to 2 p.m. at the W3 Theater, Workhouse Arts Center. $12/adults, $8/children under 12. Buy tickets online. For information call 703-584-2900.

Free Concerts: Delight in the amazing folk sound of Debi Smith, a multi-instrumentalist with a three-octave vocal range,from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Workhouse Arts Center or experience Sangre Boliviana as part of Bolivian Cultural Heritage Night from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Ossian Hall Park. Sunday Summer Concert in the Park: Adrian Duke’s soulful voice and band will entertain you with tunes from the ‘70s, ‘80s and beyond.
