An infusion of grant funding announced recently by the Federal Transit Administration will help further the Embark Richmond Highway project, which will create bus rapid transit and transit-oriented development along a significant portion of the Route 1 corridor from Huntington to Fort Belvoir.

The $400,000 grant was among 16 nationwide projects chosen by the Federal Transit Administration. Our Department of Transportation partnered with the Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation to secure the federal funding. The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and Fairfax County will each contribute $200,000 to match the total FTA grant.
