Is This News Real? Library Hosting Fake News Event March 29

Alternative facts and fake news. While not necessarily new, we’ve seen many more allegations of “fake news” lately.

On March 29, the George Mason Regional Library in Annandale is hosting a meeting on fake news and fact-checking with Angie Drobnic Holan, editor for PolitiFact and a member of the website’s Pulitzer Prize-winning team. She’ll discuss political fact-checking and the fake news phenomenon in a program that starts at 7:30 p.m. Please note that registration for the program is now full.

Mohammed Esslami, branch manager of the George Mason Regional Library, was a guest on a recent “County Conversation” podcast. He discussed the program, the context in which this program is being offered and what role the library can play. Here’s a short clip:
