New Map Shows Details of Water Main Breaks

You wake up and your water is off. Or maybe there’s a huge traffic delay because of a broken water main.

Thanks to Fairfax Water’s new map, you can now track active water main breaks and real-time status updates (much like you can for power outages with Dominion or NOVEC).  Last year, there were 651 main breaks throughout the county, so it’s possible a break may affect you.

After each break is repaired, the report will be archived, such as this incident in Springfield.

It’s also prime time for water main breaks, so keep this resource handy.

“Anytime you combine changes in air temperatures and water flowing through metal, you can have water main breaks,” says Susan Miller of Fairfax Water.

Report Water Main Breaks
