Americans with Disabilities Act

Information about the Americans with Disabilities Act

Fairfax County is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in all county programs, services and activities. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Fairfax County Government employees may request reasonable accommodations by following the process provided by the County. All efforts must be made to respond to employee requests for reasonable accommodations in an efficient and timely manner.

Under the ADA, Fairfax County Government is required to post information to applicants, participants, and other interested persons to inform them of their rights and protections afforded by the ADA. A customer service poster template is provided as one example that may be adopted for use by departments.

Other ways to satisfy this ADA requirement are to provide information in handbooks, manuals and pamphlets that are distributed to the public to describe programs and services offered by Fairfax County, the display of informative posters regarding programs and services provided to all customers, and broadcast information by radio and television.
