Eat and Run

Family Child Care Providers in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program and those who are interested in joining now have another opportunity to receive ongoing nutrition education and support. The Office for Children developed the resource guide, "Eat and Run," to make it easier for child care providers to incorporate more physical activity and nutritious foods into their child care programs.

The Eat and Run Initiative Promotes Good Health

  • Eat and Run features 15 "Eat" and 15 "Run" activities.
  • The activities are designed to be quick and easy to fit into a child care program's daily schedule.
  • Incorporating these physical activities and child friendly cooking activities can contribute directly to children's well-being.
  • In addition, all county permitted family child care providers are required to serve meals and snacks that meet the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements. Eat and Run recipes meet these guidelines.

Eat and Run Workshops

If you are currently participating in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program you can attend an upcoming "Eat and Run" workshop. They are a great opportunity to:

  • Try some of the activities and recipes in "Eat and Run."
  • Earn professional development credits.
  • Network with other professionals.
  • Receive a copy of "Eat and Run" to use in your child care program.
