SACC Children Participate in Short Play Festival
Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, the Fairfax County School Age Child Care (SACC) and Neighborhood and Community Services Short Play Festival will be held at the James Lee Community Center Theatre, 2855 Annandale Road #101, Falls Church, Virginia.
This school year, many children enrolled in SACC have had the opportunity to learn about and participate in a variety of aspects of a theatrical production including acting, costume design, set design, lighting and sound design. On Jan. 28, kindergarten through sixth grade children from 8 participating SACC centers will present the short play they have been working on during the past few months.
Each production will last no longer than 15 minutes, and will be critiqued by a panel experienced in theatre and the performing arts.
Children from Camelot, Little Run, Mantua, Stenwood and Wakefield Forest SACC programs will perform between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. While children from NCS' James Lee Afterschool Program, and Woodburn, Shrevewood and Fairhill SACC programs will perform between 4 and 6 p.m.
Opportunities for children to engage in enriching artistic activities such as Monday's Short Play Festival support SACC's curriculum focus for this school year, Kaleidoscope of the Arts: Creativity From Every Angle.
