Ms. McCoy has been an activist for women's
right since 1981, working for the Equal Rights Amendment, child
support, divorce law reform, abortion rights, prevention of
child abuse, teen pregnancy prevention, equality in the courts,
and in athletics, and a broad range of issues to improve the
rights and opportunities for women. A native Virginian, she
has acted through the National Organization for Women (NOW)
serving on its Minority Outreach task Force, Legislative Task
Force and Political Action Committee, lobbyist and state president.
On the Fairfax County Commission for Women, she has represented
the Commission on the Small and Minority Business Enterprise
Program, the National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW),
and Girls' Softball Equity Review Team. She has also served
on the State-wide Child Support Advisory Committee, and Task
Force on Gender Bias in Virginia Courts.
Ms. McCoy is a principle engineer at the MITRE
Corporation. In her 37-year career she has held leadership positions
in real time software and hardware development for technical
and scientific applications; and system and software engineering
for space data systems, global networking and systems, and information
management. She also serves as the Lee District appointee on
the Fairfax County Information Technology Policy Advisory Committee.
