Fairfax County received the 2011 Governor’s COVITS (Commonwealth of Virginia IT Symposium) award for innovation in local government for its mobile applications. Introduced this year, the county’s iPhone/iPad, Android and BlackBerry mobile applications (apps) place government in the palm of your hand through 24/7 access to government information and services. The official Fairfax County Government mobile app is available to download for free on Apple's iTunes store, Android Market and the County website.

Fairfax County has received the National Information Exchange Model
(NIEM) “Best
of NIEM” Award from the Department of Homeland Security for
enabling faster resource deployment during emergency response. The
award recognizes the county’s work on a Northern Virginia CAD2CAD
project.
- The Fairfax County website was recognized as a finalist in the county portal category for the Best of Web Award from the Center for Digital Government. The Best of Web recognizes outstanding government portals and websites based on innovation, functionality and efficiency.
