2011 School Bond Referendum



On Tuesday, November 8, Fairfax County voters will be asked to vote YES or NO on a $252 million school bond question in the general election.

If approved, the money will be used to:

  • Renovate these schools:
    • One high school: Thomas Jefferson
    • One middle school: Sandburg
    • Six elementary schools: Canterbury Woods, Clermont, Garfield, Sunrise Valley, Terra Centre and Westgate
       
  • Plan the renovations of these schools:
    • Two high schools: Langley, West Springfield
    • One middle school: Thoreau
    • 14 elementary schools, including Bucknell, Forestville, Haycock, Keene Mill, North Springfield, Springfield Estates, Terraset, Woodlawn

  • Relocate modular units to address increased enrollment or overcrowding.

  • Replace or improve infrastructure, such as roofs, major mechanical systems, parking lots and security systems.
