Supervisor-Elect John W. Foust
John W. Foust has lived in Northern Virginia since 1981 and in McLean since 1987. He is married to Dr. Marilyn Jerome. John and Marilyn have two sons, Mathew who is a student in the Peabody School of Education at Vanderbilt University and Patrick who is a student in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
John was raised in Johnstown, Penn., where he worked in the steel mills to pay for his college education. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Economics, he earned an MBA degree from West Virginia College of Graduate Studies and a law degree from The George Washington University, both at night while working full time for a large public utility.
John has practiced law in Northern Virginia for 26 years. He specializes in construction law and also provides general legal counseling to entrepreneurs and small and medium sized closely held companies in a variety of industries. After serving for many years as the founder and managing partner of a law firm in Tysons Corner, he is now Of Counsel with the Vienna Virginia firm of Boring & Pilger, PC.
Since moving to McLean, John has been an effective community leader and active in many McLean and Fairfax County civic associations and advisory committees. He has served as President of the McLean Citizens Association and the McLean Planning Committee, Chairman of the Fairfax County Environmental Quality Advisory Council’s Legislative Committee, Chairman of the Chain Bridge District of the Boy Scouts of America, Chairman of the Advocacy Committee of Fairfax County’s Medical Care for Children Partnership and in numerous other community leadership roles.
