Waterwise Gardening

Remember last year’s drought? Learn how to use water efficiently within your garden while enjoying a beautiful landscape. Find out how to increase your soil’s water holding capacity with the proper use of soil amendments and mulch. Master Gardeners will show you how to maintain a beautiful landscape utilizing drought tolerant and native plants. This program runs from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Green Spring Gardens and the cost is $11 per person. To register, call 703-642-5173.

Nature by Moonlight: Bats, Bugs, and Owls Oh My!

Children ages five and older with an adult will learn about the critters that come out at night and the special adaptations that help them thrive while we sleep. Hike the grounds of Cub Run RECenter from 8 to 9 p.m. to watch for bats, attract some bugs, and call for owls. Bring a flashlight! Reservations are required.
