Native American Theme Come to Huntley Meadows Visitor Center from 1 to 3 p.m. and discover how Native Americans lived, farmed and hunted when settlers first came to Fairfax County. The Lee Family Serving the Nation: Veteran’s Day Celebration The Lee family loyally served Virginia and the nation. Take a special tour of Sully Historic Site from 1 to 4 p.m. and learn of their roles as founding fathers, builders of the nation’s capital and soldiers. Sign the Declaration of Independence like Francis Lightfoot Lee and Richard Henry Lee. Learn about the two Lee generals from the Revolutionary War and Civil War. Find out how Washington became the capital while Richard Bland Lee served in Congress. The fee is 6$ per adult, 4$ per senior or child. To step back in history, call 703-437-1794. Families with children four years and up, come to Hidden Oaks Nature Center from 6 to 7 p.m. for the flying squirrel show. Flying squirrels rival the population of gray squirrels, but since they are nocturnal, we rarely see them. Enjoy a presentation about these amazing gliders of the night and join a naturalist as we look for flying squirrels at roosting boxes near the nature center. Learn how you can encourage flying squirrels to visit your yard. The fee is $6 per person. This program is repeated on 11-28 from 7 to 9 p.m. Call 703-941-1065 to make a reservation. |
