Observe the transition of our bird community as the summer breeding population moves south and winter residents arrive. This activity is recommended for adults. Meet in the parking lot. Turkey Walk Join a naturalist from 9 to 10 a.m. in the cedar forest to look for turkeys and their signs and discover some of their habits and secret ways. A Mother and Daughter Tea Party Here’s the perfect opportunity for grandmothers, mothers, daughters and granddaughters to dress up and enjoy each other’s company over a traditional afternoon tea. In Victorian times, tea parties were fashionable and knowledge of the social graces very important. Come to Historic Green Spring from 1 to 3 p.m. We’ll demonstrate some of the traditional rules of teatime etiquette for ladies of age six and older. Have your photo taken and sent to you as a keepsake of this elegant occasion. The fee is $27 per adult and $18 per child under 12. Call 703-941-7987 to make your reservation. Native American Storytelling, Games and Hunting Skills Come to Hidden Oaks Nature Center from 2 to 3:30 p.m. to explore the culture of eastern woodland Indians during the period of first European contact with an afternoon of stories and games. Play traditional games and take a woodland walk with an eye to how native peoples used plants for food and medicine. This activity is recommended for children ages four and older with an adult.
