Tail-Waggin Party Fun!  – For birthdays, new adoptions, or just because!

You are barking up the right tree if you’re looking for some fun for your four-legged family member and friends. Celebrate your pooch’s special day in style! Parties held inside a fenced enclosure and include two-hour use of the party tent and a one-hour private dog cruise on the lake. Party game supplies are also provided. Entire party package just $75. Bonnet Contest, Bone Hunt and Pictures with Bunny
Saturday April 11

(All ages) 4-5 pm, Lake Accotink Park, 703-569-0285. Bring your furry family members to partake in this traditional celebration of spring. Dress them in their finest bonnets and hunt for treats in the boneyard. Top off the fun by visiting with the bunny. $6 per pet includes bonnet contest, bone hunt and a souvenir digital photo of your pet's visit with the bunny. To register, send pet's name and your address, phone number, age, program title and check payable to FCPA to Lake Accotink Park, 7500 Accotink Park Road, Springfield, Virginia 22150. Dog Day Afternoon

Choose from: Saturday, June 27; Saturday, July 25; Saturday, August 22
6:30 – 7:30 pm, Lake Accotink Park, 703-569-0285
(Humans 8yrs and up; dogs all ages) Treat your canine companion to a special cruise aboard Lake Accotink Park’s pooch-friendly pontoon boat. The cruise will enchant your dog with glimpses of ducks, geese, and other lake dwellers. Reservations and advanced payment required. $6 per person, no charge for dogs. Limit one dog per person. Cruise cancelled at discretion of park staff in case of rain or gusty winds. Full refund if cruise is cancelled. No refunds for any other reason. Children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Pet First Aid and CPR

Selected weeknights, 6:30 – 8 pm, call for dates, 703-569-0285. In one quick evening, learn essential skills to help your pet in the event of a health or medical emergency. Learn how to manage your pet's injury or illness in the first critical moments until you can get to a veterinarian. This 90-minute workshop will teach you how to stop bleeding, handle choking incidents, perform chest compressions, fashion a splint, take your pet’s pulse... and more! Bring a brown-bag dinner if desired. Class is held indoors in main office classroom. For $45 you receive the workshop, course book, certificate of completion—and valuable peace of mind. Dog Training One-on-One

Lake Accotink Park offers individualized dog training lessons, perfect for busy people. Sessions are customized to your dog’s level of behavioral development and tailored to your schedule. Includes a pre-session consultation with the instructor to determine your goals and set a date and time for your first session. This is an excellent option for those who need more flexibility than weekly lessons can provide.

Pet Place

Our dog obedience classes are designed to develop understanding and build a fun relationship between pet and handler. Flexible training methods are employed for home management, problem solving and correction. Please note the following information:

  • Bring a shot record with proof of DHLA rabies and parvovirus shots to the first class.
  • All dogs must be legally licensed, vaccinated and wearing a visible dog license.
  • Dogs must be leashed when entering or leaving the class area.
  • Check with instructor at first class for proper leashes, collars and other equipment.
  • An adult must stay with child handler if student is under 16 or does not have own transportation.

Dog Obedience Instructors Wanted
