He serves on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Huntley Meadows, Friends of Meadowood and Friends of Historic Huntley, serving two terms as the president of the Friends of Huntley Meadows, as well as founder and chairman of the Federation of Friends Groups of Nature Centers and Resource Management Division parks. He also assisted in the formation of support groups at numerous other parks and historic sites. He has served on the boards of two Homeowners Associations, the Lee District Land Use and Transportation Committee, and a large assortment of land use and environmental boards, commissions, and committees throughout the county. Glasgow serves on the Board’s Resource Management, Budget, Park Services, Park Operations, and Strategic Planning Committee as well as serving as the Board’s liaison to the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust and Environmental Quality Advisory Council. The Elly Doyle Park Services Awards was recently added to his committee assignments. Glasgow describes himself as a “congenital volunteer”, and believes that Fairfax County’s well-established traditions of community service are a large part of why it is such a great place to live. |
