McCutcheon, a Fairfax County resident since 1953, received his Bachelor's degree in public administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. McCutcheon retired from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in 1982 after 40 years of service. Throughout his professional life, McCutcheon has supported Fairfax County in many capacities: as former president of the Marlan Forest Citizens Association; a former president of the Mt. Vernon Citizens Association; as a member of the Growth Research Committee; as a member of the Commission on Urban County Government; member of the Fairfax County Highway Committee; and as president of the Frying Pan Park and Youth Center Supervisory Board. He currently serves on the Elly Doyle Service Awards, Park Operations and Park Services committees. He is the Board liaison to Frying Pan Farm Park. He also continues to serve as the Market Master for the Mount Vernon Farmers Market. |

Gilbert S. McCutcheon, a longtime resident of Alexandria was appointed to the Park Authority Board in January 1992 as the Mt. Vernon District representative. He served as vice chairman for four years. He was recently honored for his numerous accomplishments and dedicated service with a 2008 Distinguished Volunteer Service Award from the Virginia Recreation and Parks Society, as well as receipt of the prestigious Lawrence V. Fowler Award, presented by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
