Park Board: Kala Leggett Quintana
Kala Leggett Quintana, a longtime resident of Burke, was appointed to the Park Authority Board as an at-large member in October 2010. In January 2014 she was elected to serve as Park Board Secretary, her second term in this role.
Quintana is a member of the Board’s Executive Committee. She also serves as chair of Strategic Planning and Initiatives Committee. She is a member of Budget Committee, the Administration and Board Management Committee, the Park Operations Committee and the Park Services Committee.
Quintana serves at the liaison to the Environmental Roundtable and Land Trust as well as the Library Board.
Quintana is a communications and public affairs professional with a strong focus on public service. She previously served as the Public Information Officer for the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) and as Director of Communications for the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC) from 2002 until December 2014.
She serves as a volunteer and community activist on numerous committees involving community and transportation issues. Prior to her service with the Park Authority, she served as an at-large representative to the Fairfax County Trails and Sidewalks Committee. She also served as president of the Board of Trustees for the Burke Centre Conservancy from 2008-2011 and as a board member from 2006-2011, a planned residential community (PRC) of nearly 6,000 homes and over 15,000 residents in Fairfax County. Quintana is also vice president of Legislative Affairs and an Executive Board member of the Transportation Association of Greater Springfield (TAGS).
Quintana graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Communication with Honors for University Service. She is also a graduate and Fellow of the University of Virginia's Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership (PLP) and Candidate Training Program (CTP). Quintana is a 30-plus year resident of Fairfax County. She shares her Burke Centre home with her husband Andy and their son, Alex.
