Park Board: Kala Leggett Quintana
Kala Leggett Quintana, a longtime resident of Burke, was appointed to the Park Authority Board as an at-large member in October, 2010. Quintana was named to the post by Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova. This is a three-year appointment.
She will serve as a member of the park funding policy and bond committee, the park services committee, the resource management committee and the strategic planning and initiative committee.
Quintana is a communication and public relations professional with a strong focus on public service. Since February 2002, she has served as Director of Public Outreach for the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC). She also serves as Interim Public Information Officer for the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) since April 2007.
She has also served as a volunteer and community activist on numerous committees involving community and transportation issues. Prior to her service with the Park Authority, she served as an at-large representative to the Fairfax County Trails and Sidewalks Committee. She also served as president of the Board of Trustees for the Burke Centre Conservancy from 2008-2011 and as a board member from 2006-2011, a planned residential community (PRC) of nearly 6,000 homes and nearly 15,000 residents in Fairfax County. Quintana is also vice president of Legislative Affairs and an Executive Board member of the Transportation Association of Greater Springfield (TAGS).
Quintana graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Speech/ Communication and Honors for University Service. She is also a graduate and Fellow of the University of Virginia's Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership (PLP) and Candidate Training Program (CTP). Quintana is a 30-year resident of Fairfax County. She shares her Burke Centre home with her husband Andy and their son, Alex.
