Campfire Bats, Bugs, and Owls Oh My!
Learn about the critters that only come out at night and their special adaptations that help them thrive while we sleep. Watch for bats, attract some bugs, and call for owls at Hidden Oaks Nature Center. Bring a toasting stick; we provide marshmallows. The one-hour program starts at 6 p.m. The cost is $6. Howloween Dog Costume Contest and Boneyard Hunt
Ready for some howlin’ good Halloween fun? Gather at Lake Accotink Park’s large pavilion from 2 to 4 p.m. to witness the best in canine creativity. Show off your pet’s unique personality and compete for special prizes and treats! Take your dog for a walk through the "boneyard" to sniff out well-earned treats while the judges confer. All dogs must be leashed and friendly toward other dogs, children and people of all ages. The cost is still just $6 per dog. All the Tea in China
Whether you prefer white, green, oolong or black, China has it all. Attend this educational seminar at Colvin Run Mill Historic Site from 1 to 3 p.m. to learn about and taste these varieties grown and produced for more than 5,000 years in the birthplace of tea. This program is presented by Certified Tea Specialist and Chef Laurie Bell of Great Falls Tea Garden. Tea-infused treats and take-home tea sampler are included in the $25 fee. Historic All Hallows Eve

Halloween Goblin Golf and Hayride
Join us for this spooktacular event at Lake Accotink from 5 to 8 p.m. Step your way along all nine holes of the “haunted” mini-golf course to play a round with glow in the dark golf balls! Ride the spooky carousel, and go on a tractor-drawn hayride adventure through the nighttime woods. Warm up by a blazing beach bonfire. $10 per person, ages two and under free. Costumes welcome! Ghost Train at Burke Lake
