Blacksmithing Demonstrations

No reservations required. 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Watch as the blacksmith fires up his forge and works with hammer and tongs to make iron tools and utensils. FREE.

Saturday, October 11 & Sunday, October 12
Scarecrow Making Workshop

No reservations required. 1-1:45 p.m. and 2-2:45 p.m.
Make a new family member for your garden or lawn. Bring pants and shirt, plus an old pair of pantyhose (for head and arms). We supply the stuffing and know-how. $6/scarecrow

Kiln Club Pottery Show and Sale

No reservations required. 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Looking for great locally hand-crafted holiday gifts at reasonable prices? Members of the Ceramic Guild and the Kiln Club of Washington, D.C. will display and sell a variety of pottery styles in the Colvin Run Barn. A portion of the sales benefits Colvin Run Mill.

The Mystery of Oolong Teas

Pre-paid reservations required by November 8. 1-3 p.m.
The most diverse category of Camellia Sinensis, oolongs can range from light floral “green” styles to hearty darks. Taste a variety of these “wulong” teas as you learn what makes them special. Tea-infused treats and take-home tea sampler included. Call Colvin Run Mill for reservations. Presented by Certified Tea Specialist Chef Laurie Bell of Great Falls Tea Garden. $30/person.

Authentic Darjeeling Teas

Pre-paid reservations required by December 1. 1-3 p.m.
From India’s Himalayan foothills, the “Champagne of Teas” has recently been granted Protected Origin Status. Taste and compare the unique qualities from the four seasonal flushes and enjoy some tea-infused treats. Take-home tea sampler included. Call Colvin Run Mill for reservations. Presented by Certified Tea Specialist Chef Laurie Bell of Great Falls Tea Garden. $30/person.

Saturday, December 13
Santa at the Mill

No reservations required. 3-6 p.m.
Enjoy old-fashioned family holiday fun at Colvin Run Mill. Visit Santa in the mill and see the Christmas tree trimmed with Victorian decorations. Join the costumed 49th Virginia Volunteer Infantry caroling around a bonfire. Roast marshmallows and make a family craft. $5/person.

Holiday Model Train Display

No reservations required. 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Fun for all ages! Watch G-gauge trains wend their way through a miniature western town in the Colvin Run Barn. FREE
