Music in the Field Frying Pan Farm Park Wednesday, July 23 10:30-11:30am
Enjoy summer mornings with this free, outdoor performance series held in the field adjacent to the Frying Pan Farm Visitor Center from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Take a musical adventure with the Fairfax Symphony’s "Overture to Orchestra String Quartet." The quartet will showcase the performing techniques and unique qualities of string instruments. Bring a blanket or folding chair. Visit the farmers market for fresh fruit and produce after the show. Golfers ages 13 and older are invited to compete in this nine-hole individual stroke play tournament at Pinecrest Golf Course starting at 6:30 a.m. The top 10 low gross scores will enter a nine-hole shootout afterwards. Prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and for closest-to-the pin contests. The entry fee is $30 (excludes riding cart). The registration deadline is July 19. Turtles Ellanor C. Lawrence Park Sunday, July 27 10-11am
Meet a naturalist at Walney pond to learn about native turtles at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park from 10 to 11 a.m. Families will see turtles close up and then search for them at the pond. Prepaid reservations are required by 7/24. The cost is $10 per family. To reserve, call 703-631-0013.
