Athletic FieldsThe synthetic athletic turf field complex at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park consists of soccer, baseball and softball fields, fitness stations and trails. Synthetic turf fields are considered state-of-the-art facilities. Synthetic turf fields provide a high quality playing surface that can be utilized throughout the year. With field shortages throughout the county, they serve as a partial solution to field space concerns as well as providing great playing conditions with minimal maintenance and superior site drainage. Directions to the Athletic Fields, Playground, Mulch Recycling: From I-66 head .6 mile north of Walney/Braddock Road intersection to left entrance at light. (From the north head 1 mile south to right entrance off Sully Road/Route 28). Hiking TrailsThere are approximately four miles of trails at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park located in upland and bottomland forest and along the meadows. The trails are used for hiking, bird watching, jogging and walking. Bicycles are only permitted on Walney Road and Big Rocky Run Stream Valley Trails. Trails are accessible from the Walney Visitor Center, Middlegate/Cabell’s Mill complex and Walney Pond. The Big Rocky Run Stream Valley Trail is a gravel/paved two mile trail that begins at the Middlegate/Cabell’s Mill complex and ends at Fairfax County Parkway. Trail maps are available at the Walney Visitor Center. Please be aware of other park patrons when using the trail system. See other trails in Fairfax County.
