The first new farm baby of 2015 has arrived! Goldie weighed 71 lbs. at birth and is named in honor of the fish celebrity who co-starred with her mom, Anastasia, in NatGeo WILD's Fish Bowl II.

Meg had lamb triplets! These two rams and little ewe are the first lambs of 2015 officially kicking-off the lambing season at the park.

Born March 18
One of our Suffolk Ewes delivered twin lambs in the early hours of March 18. She had one ram (boy) and one ewe (girl). This brings our lamb count to 5. With 6 more ewes expected to deliver between now and May, any guesses on the final lamb count for Spring 2015?

Yasmine had two little ewes.

Black Welsh Mountain Ewe 214

 

Born March 30
Our baby-busy spring break kicked off with our Black Welsh Mountain ewe. The farmer delivered two rams early Monday, March 30.

One of our Suffolk ewes delivered twin lambs to a huge crowd in Kidwell Barn around 11 a.m. She had one ram (boy) and one (ewe).

Born April 9
The Suffolk ewe affectionately known as Stompy had twin lambs. One little ram (boy) and one little ewe (girl). This brings the Lamb count at Frying Pan Farm Park to 13 total: 7 rams and 6 ewes.

May 7
Our speckled-face ewe delivered twin lambs in the morning. One ram (boy) and one ewe (girl). And that brings our lamb count to 15!

  PIGS

Chester Sow

Mayflower

Born March 14
Mayflower, our Chester white sow, delivered her piglets on March 14. This was our first litter of piglets in 2015. April 1 to April 10, 4 sows are expecting delivering so stay tuned for more updates on this Piglet-Palooza!

Spot Sow

 

Born April 5
This multicolored litter of piglets was born Easter night between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m. Looks like their Spot Sow momma has herself a litter of spotted Easter eggs!

Polka Dot Gilt

 

Born April 12
A Blue Butt sow (a cross between a Hampshire and Yorkshire) had a litter of piglets.

Hampshire/Yorkshire Exotic Cross Sow

Big Blue

Born April 20
This Exotic Cross sow we call Big Blue delivered a litter of piglets. Many of her babies have black faces with little pink snouts.

Many of these Hampshire cross piglets take after their momma and look like they’re wearing little black stockings.

Blue Butt Gilt

 

Born June 1
Our last Blue Butt gilt delivered her first litter of piglets. This completes the large animal birthing for the spring, with more cows and pigs due this fall.

Alpine Doe

 

Born March 3
Even when Frying Pan Farm Park buys instead of breeds, we still like to welcome newly purchased babies to the farm family. Pee-Wee and Herman are Alpine goat brothers born March 3rd. They were purchased from a local goat dairy farm that produces cheese and will drink milk from our Jersey cow, Anastasia. Give them a warm welcome when you visit them in Kidwell Barn!

Born March 19
Frying Pan welcomed two new Nubian goat kids to the Farm this spring. Purchased from a farm in Loudoun County, brother and sister have joined our other two Alpine bottle babies in the barn where they can often be seen jumping and playing together.

Penelope, an Alpine Doe, had boy-girl twin goat kids during spring break week.

Stella had a doe (girl) kid. Her daughter is the spittin’ image of her momma.

  CHICKS, DUCKS AND TURKEYS

 

 

Born March 19 & 20
What says spring more than baby chicks? Frying Pan Farm Park hatched their first chicks of the year on March 19 and 20. The chicks are a mix of Rhode Island Red, Plymouth Rock, and Ameraucana Chickens and are on display in the Egg Room behind the hand-washing sinks in the farm yard. Although they are only a couple days old, these little cuties are already making the rounds and appearing at other parks so be on the look-out for them at your local park's spring events!

Indian runner ducklings have been hatching left and right over the middle two weeks of May. You can see these little guys up close in their 2 story “bird condo” in Kidwell Barn.

Bourbon Red Turkey

 

Born May 26
You can spot the bourbon red turkey chicks in the egg room by Kidwell Barn.

This gilt delivered her first litter of piglets on June 1.
