Frying Pan Farm Park, Visitor Center
Start your visit at the Frying Pan Farm Park Visitor Center where you will find information, brochures and a site map. When the building is open 10am-4:30pm Monday though Saturday and noon to 4:30pm on Sundays, our friendly staff will help start your visit. This converted 1890s dairy barn now serves as the park’s business office and research library. The research library is accessible by appointment only.

The Fairfax Country Park Authority’s newest rental facility blends rural charm with modern amenities to create the perfect setting for everything from corporate meetings to children’s parties, all at affordable prices.
This spacious hall has a wonderful ambiance with exposed barn beams, new wood floors and a 26-foot high ceiling. Amenities include a 12’ x 12’ retractable projection screen and full sound system with mixing board. At 1,800 square feet, it can host up to 200 people in auditorium style seating or 117 at tables and chairs. Tables and chairs are included in your rental fee.
Auditorium rental fee is $380 for the first four hours, $95 per hour for each additional hour and there is a refundable $300 security deposit.
Bright and inviting, the classroom features a beautiful agricultural view and includes a private restroom and entrance for your group. A short walk from the animals and wagon rides at Kidwell Farm, it’s an ideal place to have your child’s birthday party. At 600 square feet, it can accommodate up to 50 people in auditorium style seating or 41 people at tables and chairs. Tables and chairs are included in your rental fee.
Classroom rental fee is $90 for the first two hours, $45 per hour for each additional hour and there is a refundable $75 security deposit. For availability, contact the park at 703-437-9101.
RULES & REGULATIONS
The following rules in particular apply to the Visitor Center:
The Licensee agrees to comply fully with all rules, regulations and policy statements established by the FCPA, and other ordinances or laws of Fairfax County and the Commonwealth of Virginia in the execution of the agreement. (see above website)
The RENTER is responsible for:
- The return of all equipment to their storage places immediately upon completion of the activity.
- Informing park staff that the facility is ready for inspection at the completion of the activity.
- Providing adequate supervision to maintain order at all times, and to avoid disturbing adjoining property and facility misuse during the period of use on the premises granted.
Scheduling may be done up to one year in advance. After scheduling and payment are completed, any changes to the agreed upon reservation must be made in writing. The FCPA reserves the right to schedule more than one event on any given date and to designate the areas in which each Renter shall conduct activities.
In order to allow maximum use of the facilities, rain dates cannot be scheduled. In case of emergencies or other unusual circumstances the FCPA may close the park at any time if it is determined necessary to protect the parkland, facilities or the public. Every effort will be made to give reasonable notice of any such cancellation and all fees will be refunded in full. If the facility must be closed by the Park Authority due to snow or other unusual circumstances all fees will be refunded in full.
If the Renter cancels the rental agreement more than 30 calendar days prior to the rental date, all fees will be refunded less a $25.00 processing fee. The security deposit and a $25.00 processing fee will be forfeited if an event is cancelled by the Renter less than 30 calendar days prior to the scheduled date. If the Renter fails to appear for a scheduled day, all rental fees will be forfeited
HOURS OF OPERATION
Operating hours for the facility are Monday thru Saturday from 10am to midnight, and Sunday from 12pm through midnight. If the requested event will need additional time before the facility opens at 10am/12pm, a minimum of 28 days notice prior to the event date must be requested to the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA), so that staff times may be scheduled accordingly. Approval is subject to staff availability. No rentals can stay past midnight of any day.
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PROHIBITED IN THE PARK
HOWEVER, an alcoholic beverage permit may be purchased for the Visitor Center when access is limited to the renting party only, and not to under-age attendees. Selling alcohol during your event is prohibited unless the seller possesses an ABC Liquor License. Additionally, all alcoholic beverages must remain inside the facility at all times.
No smoking is allowed in the Visitor Center. No candles or open flames are permitted inside of the facility. Barbeque grills are permitted outside of the facility and must be a minimum of 15 feet away from the building. Sterno and flame sources of this type are permitted as long as they are used with the appropriate equipment (i.e. chaffing dishes, etc.).
All cars will be parked in designated parking areas only.
Pets are not permitted inside the Visitor Center with the exception of service animals. All dogs and pets must be leashed and under control of the owner while on park property. This is the responsibility of owner.
Self-adhesive party runners, masking tape, scotch tape, fog machines, smoke machines, thumb tacks, non-water soluble art supplies or similar items are not permitted inside or around the Visitor Center grounds. Blue tape will be provided upon request for hanging decorations.
Collecting admissions or donations of any kind including but not limited to: donations to churches and/or registered charities, political parties, fees to cover the cost of running the event, raffle tickets, bingo cards, t-shirts, or any other event memorabilia or sale items requires a business permit. AUDIO VISUAL EQUIPMENT
Audio visual equipment can be rented for an additional fee with the following limitations:
- If you need to test the audio visual system with your personal electronic devises it must be done by appointment, during weekday business hours, 10am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
- The audio system is only available in the Auditorium.
- You can bring an iPod (mp3 player) or CD player with RCA jacks or a head phone jack as outputs, or a laptop with music and we can connect it to the audio system.
- If you have a DJ coming, he needs to bring his own equipment and cannot hook into the house system.
- Only Park Authority staff is allowed to operate the sound board.
- The digital projector can be used in either room and will be scheduled on a first request basis.
- Linux OS is not compatible with our projector.
All arrangements, questions and communications regarding the rental must be conducted between the Renter (the person/people signing the contract) and the Park Authority staff.
