Greendale Golf Course

Learn to play golf at Greendale Golf Course.Learning golf need not be difficult, time consuming or expensive. To play the game requires a club swing that is, in reality, a series of uncomplicated sequential physical actions. Almost everyone has the physical strength and manual dexterity required. It is not necessary to hit crushing long shots to enjoy the game. If you have the desire to learn and the discipline to practice, you can develop the strength and dexterity needed to control the club and achieve satisfying results.

Our instructor, Jim Loftus, can make learning golf a pleasant experience for you here at the Greendale golf course. Jim is a U.S. Golf Teachers Federation professional. In the last ten years, hundreds of people have learned golf here with him. How about you?

Jim specializes in personal lesson packages by appointment for novice players, every day, evenings included. Lesson times vary by type of lesson and are from 45 to 60 minutes for individuals, longer for more than one person. Three is the maximum class size at Greendale.

Why not learn this wonderful game and then have fun playing it here as well? Jim can show you how to perform the various swings required plus how to be your own golf coach. You will learn golf specific exercises, practice routines, stretching, and warm-up techniques that are integral parts of the game. In addition, inexpensive and practical techniques for practice at your home are provided.

Golf LessonsThe last lesson in the package of five takes place on the golf course, in the evening when it is not crowded. This is to lessen the pressure that a new golfer may feel when being on the golf course for the first time. This low-pressure approach, with step-by-step lessons that include the use of the golf course, can not be found at a driving range. Why not learn here and play here!

Package description by lesson:

  1. Grip, posture, alignment, half-swing, exercise, practice routine
  2. Review lesson #1, the full swing, swing checks, self-analysis, corrective practice techniques
  3. Swing check, use of clubs, ball flight physics, measure swing speed, record distance per club
  4. Putting, putting green etiquette and basic chipping
  5. On-course play lesson: tee shots, fairway play, rules, handicap, etiquette, bad lies

An additional lesson is recommended for those who want to play at a more advanced level. This is an on-the-course lesson dedicated to what is referred to as the 'short game' and includes pitching, chipping and sand (bunker) shots. It occurs in the evening at one of the actual greens of the golf course, which yields a 'real feel' to the lesson.

Lessons are available individually or in package form as seen in the table below. For one person, prices vary from $45 for a single lesson to $235 for the complete package. The single lesson such as a swing evaluation or an introductory session lasts between 30 and 45 minutes.

The five-lesson package consists of the full swing in three lessons, putting, and a play lesson. Notes on each lesson and a condensed version of the rules of golf and etiquette are included. This is a good value that provides the fastest way to start playing. A short game lesson (pitching/chipping and sand play) may be added for an additional fee (see table below). This lesson is given on the golf course and takes at least one hour.

The full swing may be learned in three lessons. These usually are spaced one week apart. Practice is required between lessons. The lessons last from 45 to 75 minutes, depending on class size and lesson type.

Jim can custom fit lessons into a package to suit your needs. Some of our students have found it more comfortable to repeat a lesson at an additional fee of $35 or even to repeat the entire package of five lessons. Many have come back to us for occasional 'tune-up' lessons. Give us a call and see what we can do to fill your requirements.
