Meet Jim Loftus, Greendale's Instructor (Autumn, 2005) |
Jim came late to golf instruction, but has thoroughly enjoyed every minute. After retiring with more than twenty-five years of federal service, Jim joined the United States Golf Teachers Association to begin, what he calls, 'his second life'. For the last 12 years he has been teaching at Greendale Golf Course, where hundreds of people have learned to play. Teaching at Greendale is a challenge in that there is no driving range on the property. In spite of this, Jim has devised methods that allow his students to learn every aspect of the game. He also teaches students an approach to verify for themselves that their method is correct. The pay-off for Jim is seeing the people he has taught playing golf at Greendale. He finds it rewarding to have helped people to learn to play the game of golf which is always challenging and fun. |
