Golf Tournaments   Burke Lake Golf Course March 26 Friday Shot in the Dark Night Tournament (12 yrs. and up) 8pm, Burke Lake Golf Course, 703- 323-1641. Teams of two play a nine-hole scramble using glow-in-the-dark balls. Hors d’ouevres served beginning at 7pm. Fee includes one glow ball and flashlight. Additional glow balls are $5 each. Closest to the pin contests. Registration begins two weeks prior to the event. Limited to first 18 teams. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place teams. Rain date April 2. $60/ team. Fee due at registration. April 24 Saturday Junior/Parent Tournament (7 yrs. and up) 8am – noon, Burke Lake Golf Course, 703-323-1641. Teams of two compete in an 18-hole scramble format. Closest to the pin contests. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place teams in two age divisions: Adult/Jr. 7-12; Adult/Jr. 13-17. Registration begins two weeks prior to event. Limited to first 48 teams. Rain date May 1. $60/team, includes lunch. Fee due at time of registration. June 19 Saturday Father’s Day Golf Tournament (7 yrs. and up) 8am – noon, Burke Lake Golf Course, 703-323-1641. Teams of two compete in an 18-hole scramble format in three divisions: Father/Jr. 7-12; Father/Jr. 13-17; Father/Adult partner. Closest to the pin contests. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in all divisions. Limited to first 48 teams. Registration begins two weeks prior to event. Rain date June 26. $60/ team, includes lunch. Fee due at time of registration.   Greendale Golf Course April 10 Saturday Ice Breaker Scramble (12 yrs. and up) 9am, Greendale Golf Course, 703- 971-6170. Teams of two pick the better of each shot and both players hit from that spot until the hole is completed. One person from each team must have a current VSGA or valid USGA handicap. Prizes awarded for flight winners. Closest to the pin contest. Fees are $10 per person plus green fees and cart usage fee (required).Tee-times are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration required by Tuesday, April 6. Rain Date Saturday, April 17. May 10 Monday Super Seniors Tournament (70 yrs. and up) 9am shotgun start, Greendale Golf Course, 703-971-6170 Seniors compete in an 18-hole individual stroke play tournament. Four divisions: 70-75 men, 76-81 men, 82 and older men, and 70 and older women. Prizes for 1st and 2nd low gross in each division. Fees are $20 per person plus green fees (cart included). Breakfast and lunch are included in the registration fee. Registration required by Tuesday, May 4. Rain Date Monday, May 17. Teams of two (father/grandfather & son/daughter) pick the better of each shot and both hit from that spot until the hole is completed. Spend a nice summer night playing in our 2nd annual nighttime 18-hole mini golf tournament. Pizza will be served at 8pm and the tournament will have a shotgun start at 9pm. Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion. Cost is $15 per person and registration begins on June 1st. Rain date is July 30th. Advance reservation is required. $15 per person (cash only). October October 2 20th Annual Shot in the Dark Tournament (15 yrs. and up) 6pm, Jefferson Golf Course, 703-573-0444. This is the original night-time golf tournament played with glow-in-the-dark golf balls, candle-lined fairways and illuminated flags. Teams of two compete in a nine-hole scramble format. There will be tournament prizes, dinner and a raffle for door prizes. Advance registration required. Sign up by September 1st and the cost is $65/team. After September 1st the cost is $75/team. No refunds. Rain date is October 9.     Twin Lakes Golf Course June 11 Friday and 12 Saturday 20th annual Combo Classic Golf Tournament (Teams of two, must include golfer with a disability), registration 11am with12:30pm shotgun start on Friday; registration 8am with 9am shotgun start on Saturday, Twin Lakes Golf Course, 703-631-9099, ext. 203. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, this classic tournament is the only one of its kind in the DC Metro area to pair able bodied golfers and golfers with disabilities. Competitors will play the Oaks Course (18 holes, par 71) the first day and the Lakes Course (18 holes, par 72) the second. Friday includes box lunch and closet-to-the-hole and longest drive contests. Saturday features continental breakfast, closest-to-the-hole and longest drive contests, awards, door prizes and buffet luncheon. Two flights; 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team prizes.
