Special Events The Garden Gate Plant Shop Open: Monday-Saturday 9am-4pm, Sunday noon-4pm, beginning April 3 Visit our expanded plant sales area offering unusual, hard-to-find plants nurtured by Green Springs' horticultural staff. The shop specializes in plant varieties that do well in local growing conditions, such as drought-tolerant and shade-loving perennials. It also offers specialty plants featured in Green Spring's gardens, such as rock garden and water-wise plants. Don't miss this opportunity to try something new in your own landscape. FROGS receive 10% off all plants in the Plant Shop. 28th Annual Begonia Show and Sale Saturday–Sunday, August 28-29 Saturday: 9am-4:30pm Sunday: Noon-3:30pm Feast your eyes at this free flower show sponsored by the Potomac Branch of the American Begonia Society at Green Spring Gardens. Expand your plant palette; be tempted with splashes of color for homes and greenhouses that last long after frosts have put our outdoor gardens to bed! The annual begonia extravaganza will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The sale offers a wide variety of begonias, including unusual subtropical species. For more information, call 703-642-5173. Fall Garden Festival Saturday, October 2 No reservations required. 8:30am-3:30pm Free admission Support one of Virginia's most innovative and exciting public gardens. The Fall Festival is a FROGS (Friends of Green Spring) sponsored fundraiser filled with adult and family activities, silent auction and an expanded plant sale. Proceeds help acquire plants for the garden and add to Green Spring's educational efforts. Co-sponsors include: Virginia Native Plant Society and Washington Gardener magazine. Gardeners' Holiday Open House: Celebrating the Winter Garden Sunday, December 5 No reservations required. Noon-4pm Free Enjoy a day of holiday fun in the garden: shop for holiday gifts, make crafty, holiday-inspired-creations, listen to seasonal music, enjoy refreshments and view the beautiful decorations. This festive day is for gardeners of all ages, individuals and families.
