Birthday Parties at Hidden Oaks Nature Center Weekend Mornings Naturalist-led programs include: Insects Reptiles Dinosaurs Your little king or queen for a day will be feted in style at their Hidden Oaks birthday party! Choose your party topic -- dinosaurs, insects or reptiles -- and prepare for a memorable experience! Party Particulars Families will have the classroom to set up their party food and decorations starting at 9:30 a.m. The exhibit discovery room with the costumes and tree house is open at 9:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. for party participants. Supervision of children in the exhibit area and straightening up post-party is the party host's responsibility. The $175 fee covers 15 or fewer children. Parties are for ages 4-12 years. As additional $12 fee is assessed per child over 15, up to a maximum of 20 children. Siblings ages 12 years and under count as party participants. A maximum of 30 adults may be in the room. The children will be seated for cake and ice cream, provided by the family, at two tables. Food and beverages may only be consumed at the tables. Party participants enjoy a 45- minute naturalist-led presentation including a craft and a nature walk. The recommended party time is 10-11:30 a.m. with the naturalist-led portion beginning at 10:15 a.m. The party hosts must have the trash bagged, the exhibit area returned as found (costumes hung on pegs, etc.) and exit the classroom by 11:45 a.m. The nature center opens to the public at noon. To Book a Party: 1. Complete a party request form, available at the front desk or call 703-941-1065 to have the form emailed to you. 2. Upon receiving the notice of your party date acceptance, complete and return the party agreement form with the full fee. Cancellations made more than two weeks from the party date receive full refunds minus a nonrefundable $25 administrative fee. No refunds are made for cancellations within two weeks from the party date. Staff will review the program outline with you upon request. 3. Bring your party food and supplies to Hidden Oaks at 9:30 a.m. on the day of your party. Ice cream and beverages may be stored in our refrigerator. Please make arrangements one week in advance if you require storage for more than one gallon of ice cream or more than three gallons of beverage. Red beverages and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. 4. You are welcomed to bring decorations but we request that no balloons be used. We encourage environmentally-friendly decorations! No stapling to walls or messy decorations.
