Huntley was a part of Hunting Creek Farm, now the site of Huntley Meadows Park. The farm provided oats, wheat, corn, hay, clover and other crops grown by slave and tenant labor. Thomson's brother, Richard Chichester Mason, owned the adjoining Dogue Creek Farm and the country house known as Oakley.
