![]() The Park Authority has over 400 parks on more than 24,000 acres. Specific facilities include a horticulture center, a working farm, an activities/equestrian center, nine indoor RECenters, five nature and visitor centers, eight golf courses, seven off-leash dog parks, three lakes, two campgrounds, an ice skating rink, a Water Park and a working grist mill. Recreational opportunities in the parks abound, with millions of people per year enjoying picnicking, hiking, fishing, tennis and golf. There are also carousels, miniature golf courses, amphitheaters and marinas. Over 30 of the parks have staff on-site throughout the year. To aid you in your search for specific park information, we have arranged the various facilities into eight main categories. You will find these categories at the left listed under the "Find A Park" heading. Additional headings link you to areas such as a calendar of events, volunteer information, park news, site search tools and more. Also, Fairfax County Government Channel 16 produces Parks Plus. This program informs viewers of the facilities and recreational opportunities available in the Fairfax County parks system. Emphasis is put on the personal rewards of involvement with Park Authority programs and encouragement is given to citizens to become active participants. Each program is sprinkled with fascinating subjects ranging from history to sports to nature. There is something of interest for everyone. |
