Summer Class Listings Online Now! Class Registration Begins May 20

Numbers show you can sleep in and still get your class
Many of you set the alarm to be up at 5am on the first day of registration. If you did, chances are good that you got a busy signal or couldn't get through on the Internet.
Very frustrating . . . but is that early bird initiative necessary?
For the vast majority of class takers, the answer is a resounding NO! The fact is, most people don't have to register on the first day - and certainly not in the first few hours that the system is open - in order to get their first-choice classes. Here is some information from the previous Winter term to help you decide if you can afford to sleep in (and avoid that busy signal):
- Less than 10% of classes filled on the first day of registration
- By the end of the second day, still only 11.5% of classes had filled
- Programs that did fill most frequently on opening day: Just under 20% of all programs were Aquatics; but particularly youth swimming classes at Oak Marr (28%), Cub Run (35%) and South Run (12%)
- Not counting Aquatics programs, only 3% of classes filled on the first day of registration
Service improves dramatically after the first day because it's much easier to get through. If you use the telephone self-registration system (703-449-8639) or the Internet, you can register at your convenience seven days a week from 5am to 11pm.
If you examine the evidence, you'll see that most class takers can register at their leisure. Sleep on it, why don't you?
