Monticello Park is an approximately 6.2-acre park located at 5315 Guinea Road in the Braddock Supervisory District. The park currently consists of primarily a large lawn area and is classified as a local-serving park.
The master plan was approved by the Park Authority Board on June 27, 2012 after a public participation process was conducted.
Park Planning Process
In 2011, Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) kicked off an effort to develop the Monticello Park Master Plan looking to satisfy local community needs. FCPA heard many voices and thoughts about future uses of the park at both a public information meeting held on April 4, 2011, and several subsequent working group meetings organized by Braddock District Supervisor John Cook's office with representatives from the communities surrounding the park representing a host of community needs, issues and concerns.
Using the input received in 2011 and additional site analysis, FCPA created a draft plan for public review and comment.
Public comment on the draft master plan received at the public meeting held February 27, 2012 is available for review here. The meeting featured a presentation by the Park Authority which is available here. Additional input on the draft plan was received for 30 days following the public meeting. All comments received during the public comment period and two meetings with adjacent community members were considered, resulting in revisions to the draft master plan to address community concerns. The master plan which was approved by the Park Authority Board on June 27, 2012 is available here.
In concert with Supervisor’s Cook’s office, FCPA wishes to thank those who have participated in this planning process so far as well as to the working group which yielded the collection and collation of many community issues and concerns.
Additional updates will be added to this web site as available.
More information on the Master Plan process can be found by visiting the Park Planning and Development homepage.
The Future Park
