New Sully District Park Board Representative Named
Sully District Supervisor Kathy Smith appointed a new member of the Fairfax County Park Authority Board this week. Smith named Marguerite (Maggie) F. Godbold to serve as the Sully District Representative on the Park Board. Godbold’s term is for four years and her appointment is effective immediately. She replaces Harold L. Strickland who served in this post since 1992.
Ms. Godbold is a retiree and active community volunteer. Before she retired, she worked as a certified project management professional and was a consultant providing system engineering and management services for the federal government. Over the years she led several teams in assisting the government with large systems development and maintenance. She has worked for several firms throughout her career including Scitor Corporation, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems and Veridian Information Solutions.
Godbold grew up in Northern Virginia and has been a resident of the Sully District of Fairfax County for over 30 years, currently residing in Oak Hill, VA. She is an avid birdwatcher and environmentalist, and an amateur musician. She is passionate about increasing access to the outdoors and arts for all Fairfax residents.
The Fairfax County Park Authority Board is appointed by the Board of Supervisors. These 12 appointees are comprised of one representative from each of the nine magisterial districts, plus three at-large members. The Park Board sets policy and establishes agency priorities.
