Lake Fairfax Fourth of July Festivities Promise Family Fun

Lake Fairfax Fourth of July Festivities Promise Family Fun

Celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, food and family fun! The annual festivities will occur at Lake Fairfax Park on Friday, July 4, 2014. Park grounds open at 7 a.m., so come early. There are trails to hike, boats for the lake, a skatepark to enjoy, and playgrounds and picnic areas in the shade. Plus an entire day of special activities!

The Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole opens at 10 a.m. but generally reaches capacity early, so visitors are advised to plan accordingly. There will be vendors located near the park’s main office, offering a tasty variety of foods and desert treats. Along with food vendors, you can fire up hot dogs, hamburgers and more on grills within the picnic areas. The carousel and boat rides will also be running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be puppet shows for the kids from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. before the grand illumination begins. Starting around 9:15 p.m., the sky above the park will explode in patriotic colors. The fireworks can be seen from most places within the park, but the hill overlooking the lake usually provides the best views. In addition to the fireworks, there will be a special performance by the renowned U.S. Army Field Band.

The campgrounds will be available for those wishing to stay overnight! Reservations are highly recommended as the campground fills quickly.  Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. For reservations, please call 703-471-5414.

Lake Fairfax Park is located at 14000 Lake Fairfax Drive in Reston, near the Water Mine. For more information, visit Lake Fairfax Park.
