Turf Field Conversion Project Completed at Lewinsville Park

Local officials, youth sports organizers and players will gather at Lewinsville Park to celebrate the completion of two synthetic turf field conversion projects as well as field lighting improvements on Fields 2 and 3.  The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, the Park Authority Board, the Department of Neighborhood and Community Services and representatives from McLean Youth Soccer and McLean Youth Football invite the public to join them at ribbon cutting ceremonies on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10 a.m.  Lewinsville Park is located at 1659 Chain Bridge Road in McLean, Va.

Field Turf USA, Inc. of Calhoun, Georgia is the contractor.  The project began earlier this summer and is funded through Park Bonds, a Department of Neighborhood and Community Services mini-grant program, and a partnership with McLean Youth Soccer/McLean Youth Football.

The project is part of the ongoing effort by Fairfax County to meet the growing need for rectangular fields and address the current field shortage.  The development of the Lewinsville Park fields meets all general guidelines and standards established under the synthetic turf program including lighting.  Lighted synthetic turf fields increase field capacity by approximately 62%.
