Bluegrass Barn Series Welcomes April Verch Band
The April Verch Band will perform crack
fiddling, splintering step-dancing, and sweet singing at Frying Pan Farm Park on
February 17, 2013, at 7 p.m. Bluegrass fans will enjoy the band’s
unique style which has been described as Canada’s Ottawa Valley meets
old-time Appalachia. Tickets for this Bluegrass Barn concert are $12 in
advance or $15 at the door.
April Verch is an internationally renowned Canadian fiddler, singer, songwriter, and step-dancer. Her high-energy shows are charming, vibrant displays of music and dancing. Verch mixes plucky, straight-backed Canadian tunes with ancient Appalachian ballads. She is the first woman in history to win both of Canada’s most prestigious fiddle championships – the Grand Masters and Canadian Open – and is considered a world class fiddler. Verch performed in the opening ceremonies for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
Bluegrass Barn concerts are held in Frying Pan Farm Park’s visitor center. This bi-weekly Sunday performance series showcases some of the best of local and regional Bluegrass musicians. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available for pick-up at the door the night of the show, please bring ID. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling 703-222-4664.
