Colvin Run Mill to Host Girl Scout Sleepover
Colvin Run Mill
Historic Site is offering a new program for Brownie and Junior
Girl Scouts this spring. On Saturday, April 27, 2013, girl scouts
are invited to an indoor sleepover in the barn. They will follow candle-lit
pathways as they enjoy an evening tour of the grist mill led by a
historian. This is a unique opportunity to see the mill at night, make
new friends, and maybe see some of the park’s nocturnal wildlife. The
sleepover starts at 6 p.m.
The tour is just the beginning. Scouts will also learn and play 19th and 20th century games and make s’mores around a bonfire. For breakfast, they will churn butter to spread on corn muffins made from flour ground onsite. Scouts should bring sleeping bags, flashlights, and a picnic dinner. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
The cost is $20 per person. Paid adult chaperones must accompany scouts. Registration is available at Parktakes Online or call 703-222-4664.
Colvin Run Mill Historic Site is located at 10017 Colvin Run Road in Great Falls. For more information, call 703-759-2771, or visit Colvin Run Mill Historic Site.
