Teams Sought for Summer Slam Basketball Tournament

Tournamets for Turf , a series of competitive events created to raise money for the replacement of synthetic turf fields in Fairfax County, has scheduled a three-on-three basketball tournament for Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, 2014. The 2014 Summer Slam will be held at Lake Braddock High School from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is open to male and female teams in four age groups. The cost is $100 per youth team and $125 per high school or adult team, and the deadline to register is June 24. Download Summer Slam Flyer.

Age groups include grades five through six, grades seven through eight, high school, and adults (18+). Each team is guaranteed to play at least four games. Games end when one team has scored 21 points or the game reaches 30 minutes. Prizes will be awarded to champions in each division, and trophies will be given to the runners-up. Players may also register to compete in a dunk contest, 3-point contest, and a game of Knockout ($10 per contest) Winners will receive cash prizes!

The Summer Slam is sponsored by the Fairfax County Park Authority, Fairfax County Park Foundation, Visit Fairfax, and the Fairfax County Office of Public and Private Partnerships.
