Fairfax Master Naturalists Seek Others Interested In Nature
Applications are now being accepted for Virginia Master Naturalist training by the Fairfax Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists. If you are interested in preserving natural resources, love being outside, are curious about nature and want to make a difference in your community, consider becoming part of this dedicated volunteer corps.
Marilyn Schroeder is a Master Naturalist and an active and dedicated volunteer with the Fairfax County Park Authority. She connects with kids who visit our parks, teaching them the ethos of stewardship and importance of caring for living things in our natural world. “We have wonderful nature areas,” said Schroeder, “and it’s important to preserve them as Fairfax County grows.”
Master Naturalists provide basic training in natural resource topics and perform stewardship, citizen science, and education service projects at parks and in natural areas. Training will be held on Thursday evenings, 7 to 10 p.m. with four Saturday field trips from September 6 through November 29, 2012. Training will be held at McLean Baptist Church located at 1367 Chain Bridge Road in McLean.
